Debate Pub
Book Pub with a twist. The book discussion gives way to a debate.
An optional suggested read loosely relates to the topic, but no one has to have read it. The men on the roster have a month to prepare; everyone else comes to listen, weigh, and join the open discussion at the end. Every debate is broadcast live and recorded.

The Resolution
“Artificial Intelligence (i.e., large language models) erodes the imagination more than enhancing it.”
How the night runs
Order of the Evening
A variation of the Lincoln–Douglas format, adapted for teams. It is built so that no formal debate training is required.
- Up to six debaters take the floor: three for the affirmative (who agree with the resolution) and three for the negative (who disagree).
- Each debater has eight minutes to make his case.
- The first debater may split his time: four minutes to open the debate, and four to close it.
- Debaters may coordinate with their own side while preparing. The “team” element goes no further than that, for now.
- When every case has been heard, the remaining time is open discussion and questions from the room.
